Olive's First Ballgame

We went to Phoenix this past weekend and met Grandpa Dwight, Grammie Kim, and Great Grandpa Bill. We spent a great deal of time hanging around the pool, but the highlight of the weekend was Olive's first major league ballgame. There were four generations of Jaynes at Chase Field in Phoenix on Saturday night to see the Diamondbacks play our favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. We ate hot dogs, and ice cream, and peanuts and cheered as the Braves beat the D'backs. It was a thrill to get to take Olive to a game, especially with her grandfather and great grandfather, two of the biggest baseball fans around.

Swimming Lessons

Little Olive just completed her first swimming class! She was in the Parent Tot class with Molly and did very well in the 2 week course. She practiced splashing the water, "floating" on her back and did get dunked a few times (she was NOT a big fan of the dunking). We figure at this rate she will be ready for the 2024 Olympics. Watch out!

All Who Yonder Are Not Lost

Last Wednesday marked Olive's very first concert. Molly and I and our friends Chris and Jen made the short drive (about 10 minutes from our houses) to the Pine Mountain Amphitheater. We brought a picnic and sat on the lawn. It was a beautiful evening. And the show was pretty spectacular as well. Keller Williams opened for the Yonder Mountain String Band. Both sets were high energy and Olive enjoyed dancing and watching the adults dance. She was one of many little kids at the show. She was good about wearing her ear plugs, although they didn't want to stay in so she ended the night with a scarf around her ears, prompting someone in the crowd to exclaim, "Look, Ninja Baby!"

The Ninja Baby was a good girl, and I'm sure that this was the first of many, many shows she will attend.

First teeth

Olive has been working on two teeth for the last couple weeks, and they have come in enough that we finally got a picture.

Silly Tees

For only being 7 months old, Miss Olive has quite a cute wardrobe...and don't get us started on her shoes! We decided that some of our favorite T-Shirts were due to be posted on her blog. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to Olive's fashion statements!

Who knew that pretending to sneeze could be so funny?

Olive Tells Hamilton What's What

Our little Olive has developed a new skill--grunting. It is quite funny because she gets her whole body into the grunt. Our big dog, Hamilton (who is just off camera on the right), got the full force of one of her jabber sessions and didn't much care for her tone...

Happy 4th of July!

Olive attended her first parade today to celebrate Independence Day. Before falling asleep about halfway through she enjoyed bands, classic cars and horses. She is currently talking a little nap to get ready for a Chili Feast we are going to down the street. Unfortunately, she isn't quite ready to enjoy the chili, or the deviled eggs and rum watermelon Molly made to bring...maybe next 4th of July.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

Bouncy Girl

Olive LOVES to move. I knew before she was born that she was going to be a kid on the go. (She kicked her mother A LOT!) We are not sure if she is going to be a dancer or professional jumper...
