North Rim Weekend--Take 2

I started day 2 with a half day mule ride down to Supai Tunnel on a mule named Annie (as in Oakley). It was a lot of fun and a beautiful ride. (Will and Olive stayed safely on the rim..)

Shawney the guide...Louise and Sugarbell..

Annie...

Back to ol' Brighty...
The second night we stayed in the entrance cabin. It was a nice big place with a lot of things to look at outside.

North Rim Weekend

A few days ago we were finally able to take a short weekend vacation to the North Rim. It was a bit of a work trip but we had a lot of fun! Here are a few pics from day 1.

Of course we had to get Navajo Tacos from Cameron...(Olive was so impressed she needed to get her own picture)

Then it was on to Lee's Ferry. We watched a few boats launch for their trips down the Colorado and looked at a lot of rocks.

Olive got stuck in the flowers at Jacobs Lake Inn...They were pretty dangerous as you can see.

North Rim!

The North Rim Lodge has a beautiful view from their sun room. We spent a lot of time here enjoying the view and the big leather couches.

Olive was very impressed with the statue of Brighty the Mule. We made frequent visits to pet ol' Brighty...

Stairs. We climbed a lot of stairs...

We finished the night with the Grand Canyon Cookout and got to ride a little choo choo. Day 1 was a success!

Random silliness

Just a few pictures from the last few weeks...

Olive, you are getting so big with a personality to match. We love you, little girl. You make everyday a new and wonderful experience.

We can't wait to show you the world, I hope it's ready for you...

Now there's something you don't see everyday...

Today Olive and I got to go down to the Grand Canyon Airport to see Air Force 1 land! It was bringing the President and First Family for a one day vacation to the canyon. (They are here now but we've been told there is little chance to see them out and about so we are going to avoid driving around due to all the road closures.) It was pretty amazing to watch that big plane land at our tiny little airport. We were all hoping that they would come over and talk to us but alas, they did not. They are, after all on vacation, and how many of us greet throngs of strangers on vacation?

(The last picture is Michelle's vehicle...you can kind of see her in the back..)

Nationwide Babysitting Service

When in need of babysitting, there is no one like the Nationwide Babysitting Service (aka. Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Betsy). While Will and I took off to Las Vegas to relax by a pool for a few days, they came out to watch Olive. They had a big week of touring the canyon, going to the local market and seeing how little O spends her days.

Will and I were sorry we didn't get to visit with the fam but we really appreciated a break! Plus Olive got to have a great week with some of her biggest fans. Olive is still asking for "Pop Pop" and "Aunt BEETsey."

Yes, Betsy...the Elk are real...

Thankfully, Olive remembered to water the flowers.

Pop Pop made Olive do some of the work.

Cheesey.
