Birthday Party

One of the advantages to having a Birthday on Christmas Eve is that Olive gets to celebrate with all her aunts, uncles, and cousins. Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Schroer's is a long standing tradition and we more than made up for missing last year with food, games, and a birthday party.

Dad started the night with the Jaynes' family tradition of reciting the birthday story. Grandma Schroer made snowman cupcakes for everyone and a big cupcake for the birthday girl. She picked the sprinkles off first, then started on the frosting before digging into the chocolate. Then she got to open her presents. She helped Mom with the wrapping paper and got very excited when she saw what was inside. She received some wonderful gifts and we are so appreciative of everyone's kindness. It was a very special evening.

We apologize for the lateness of the blog, a stomach virus has been claiming victims one by one around these parts. Christmas pictures are forthcoming.

Happy Birthday Olive!

It's so hard to believe that our little girl is one year old today. The last 12 months has gone by so incredibly fast. We thought we would take a little trip down memory lane today and share some pictures that didn't make the blog.

We would also like to thank everyone who made Olive's first year so special. She is a lucky little girl to have so many wonderful people who love her. We are thinking of all of you and hope that everyone has a safe and memorable Holiday and that you are all with loved ones.

P.S. Pictures of Olive's party will be posted soon.

Ride 'Em Cow Girl

We gave Little O another gift this week. This one was from Great Aunt Judy and Mary. It is a super cute rocking horse that makes galloping and whinnying noises. Olive's feet can't quite make it into the stirrups but it won't be long until she is able to "ride the range" on her own. Until then, Mom and Dad are helping to keep her balance her on her rides across the prairie.

Christmas/Birthday comes early

We have decided that rather than overwhelm Olive on the 24th and 25th this month we would give her a few of her gifts a little early. We figure she doesn't know the difference this year and it will give her more time to enjoy some of the wonderful gifts she has received. This is a short video of Olive enjoying her new tyke bike from Grammy and Papa Thayer. She has been having a blast riding around the house and Mom and Dad are getting in good shape pushing her.

Molly and I have heard from a number of folks in the past week or so that follow the blog. We just want to thank you all for tuning in. It's nice to know that people are keeping up with our little girl, and makes the blog that much more fun to do.

Santa Claus

Today we took Olive to see Santa Claus. Although we didn't get a smile, there were no tears. He was a sweet Santa Claus and said that Christmas Eve babies are very special. We agree.

We hope Santa brings everyone a safe and happy holiday.

O Christmas Tree

Last year with our move in December and Olive arriving on Christmas Eve, we never got around to getting a Christmas Tree. So yesterday we went to get a tree (opting for a small one in case we need to move it out of reach of little hands) and while Olive was taking her afternoon nap Molly and I decorated it. Olive was very interested in it when she came downstairs. She sat and looked at it for a few minutes before she started poking at the ornaments. She was even quick enough to pull a few off.

Today we are going to enjoy a (hopefully) quiet Sunday around the house. It could be a challenge as someone is getting 2 more teeth which will make a total of eight!
